OLD SRI LANKA – The distinctive shape of the large Colombo Fountain is inspired by the traditional cooking pots of old Sri Lanka. The well-defined ridge at the centre of those cooking pots allowed them to sit propped on clay supports in a simple stone hearth. With the Colombo Fountain, that same shape causes the water to trickle down the vessel’s sides, but rather than tumble from the edge of the curve, it continues on its way, clinging fast until it tinkles quietly into a pond base below. This unusual urn makes a truly individual fountain.
