Winged Victory

NIKE VICTORIA – This breathtaking figure, with her rippling drapery and feathered wings, stands almost life-size, thus requiring a generous space in a garden. Called Nike by the Greeks and Victoria by the Romans, she was the goddess who presided over ancient athletic games, and lead the victory marches after great triumphs in battle. She was, in other words, the goddess of heroes.
