THE TOWN FOUNTAIN – In Italy today, stone fountains continue to be part of town life, retained as much for their old-world beauty as the cheering sound of running water. The Milano wall-standing or hedgerow fountain embodies the same classical charm as those old water fonts of yesterday. Below a curved and projecting crown, two baroque dolphins send lively spurts of water into the air. This, in turn, falls into a deep, semi-circular basin with a high, rounded step.
