THE DECORATED URN – The gorgeous Palermo Urn is decorated from top to toe, starting with a skirt of splayed palm leaves for a foot. The socle above has a ledge of hidden flowers, the urn's bowl is covered in balloon lobes, and the flared rim at the top is moulded with egg-and-dart patterning. But the most lavish decoration of all clusters around the urn's upper stem. Here, flowing acanthus leaves whirl in circles around stylised daisies. This lavish urn is all dressed up, ready to take centre stage.
