Grimaldi Urn With Lid

THE PALACE URN – This fabulous urn is as arresting as its namesake, the gardens of the Grimaldi Palace in Monaco, gardens that have been tended without cease for seven centuries. At the base of the urn, a great cluster of acanthus leaves curl back from a bordering ring, and above them heavy garlands of laurel leaves fall in drapes and swags. The grand lid is covered in ballooned lobes with a simple pattern etched in between. Finally, rising on a plain, ringed socle is a large flaming finial or flambeau.
