Scala Torch with Metal Handle

THE MEDIEVAL TORCH – Long before oil lamps and candles were devised, there were torches. These crude lamps were made by ramming a wad of rag, soaked in fat, into a small, metal basket or cup. A long handle attached to the cup allowed the torch to be carried about, or slotted into a bracket fixed to the wall. The Scala Torch with Metal Handle is a decorative version of those medieval torches. The rust coloured bracket is wall-mounted and the long-handled torch slotted inside.
