ADJUSTING HER SANDAL – This bas-relief of the goddess Nike once adorned the Temple of Athena in Athens. She leans gracefully forward with one hand lowered to her sandal, while around her is draped a transparent tunic that falls in deep folds. Time has carried away almost all trace of the goddess’s feathered wings. The Nike Wall Plaque is an intriguing piece of sculpture, fashioned for restful garden surrounds in which the goddess can eternally lean and adjust her sandal.
