OF THE ARISTOCRACY – In Edwardian England, Mayfair was the place where the aristocracy put their elegance and opulence on display, which is what the singular Mayfair Urn still does today. This exquisitely proportioned urn carries a wealth of ornamentation, yet appears tasteful and finely dressed. The foot is delicately patterned, the socle above is deeply fluted, while a wide bowl of palm leaves supports the urn’s egg-shaped base. Vine leaves descend from the handles, formed from two elegantly splayed acanthus leaves. Still more decoration gathers under the urn’s overhanging rim, like a high lace collar from which descends a necklace of lobes.

Nothing individualises a garden like a large, beautiful urn. It draws the eye and sets the tone for the entire garden, especially when it can be coloured to harmonise with other garden features.
