THE MEDICI SWANS – The Medici family of Florence were patrons of the arts for three centuries, and gave their name to an elegant vessel ornamented with swans – the Medici Vase. Today that vase gives its name to Yardware’s splendid Medici Urn. Restrained in shape, it is decorated with laurel leaves splayed around its base and hung in garlands about its bowl. The magnificent lid bears the Medici swans with their wings overlaid and long necks forming elegant handles. Atop the whole sits a pineapple finial.
